  • git diff, or your editor's diff view: shows what changed, not why it matters, and there's no one to ask. DiffCue explains each hunk in place and answers follow-up questions, without leaving the file.
  • GitHub or GitLab's pull-request review tools: only available once you've pushed and opened a PR, and GitHub's own AI summaries require a Copilot subscription and only work on GitHub-hosted repositories. DiffCue reviews changes while they're still private, on your disk, before you've committed to anything.
  • Pasting diffs into ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot Chat: manual copy-paste, no file or hunk structure, and you re-explain the context every time. DiffCue already knows which hunk you're looking at and keeps a running conversation per hunk, so it never re-explains what it's already explained.
  • GUI git clients (Tower, GitKraken, Fork, SourceTree): excellent for staging, branching, and committing, but none of them explain a diff or let you question it. DiffCue is built specifically to explain and interrogate a diff, not a general git client with a chat window attached.
